Dear Mr.Ismail Omar,
We write to alert you, Sir, of the unhygienic conditions in which some of your officials are maintaning the lock-ups under their purview. We know you are not aware of their neglect of duty, Sir, as otherwise, you would surely have corrected the situation.
It has also come to our attention that your staff have not equipped these lock-ups with beds, mattresses, pillows or blankets. In fact, and you must brace yourself here, Sir, detainees are made to sleep on cement floors! Which may result in them being very uncomfortable, contracting pneumonia or in some cases, aggravating already existing back injuries caused by a beating delivered by some psychopathic former IGP.
It is very unhygienic to place open toilets next to where the detainees are supposed to sleep. We are afraid that the Health Department may unreasonably fine your department.
We are also concerned that the usual pesky opposition politicians and human rights activists will use this issue to further lambast your already, and we fear correctly, much-maligned department.
We do hope you will look into this matter, Sir.
We look forward to your return correspondence, after you have conducted investigation, in the next year or two.
Yours helpfully,
The Owl
